Lakeland Community College

This is the third round of layoffs at the college, which was criticized for its spending patterns and decision making in a state audit in 2023.

The college's new president says his goal is to address a recent state audit which called Lakeland's financial trajectory "unsustainable."

The Ohio Auditor says the college has not adequately adjusted its operations - including staffing, facilities and course offerings - to account for losing almost half its enrollment in the last decade.

Deb Berkebile is an artist in Ashtabula County who has taken what she learned in a GIS course at Lakeland Community College and applied it to her quilting.
