For nearly two years, the Ohio Department of Education and the state’s largest online charter school were battling back and forth over funding for students. And this week brought the culmination of that fight, in the Ohio Supreme Court, as attorneys for the now-closed Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow and ODE traded jabs over how the state should fund schools and if that funding should be tied to just enrollment or student participation. Statehouse correspondent Andy Chow reports.
The Democratic field for governor got a little smaller this week – just a week after the candidates filed their paperwork to run – as Connie Pillich and her running mate Scott Schertzer dropped out of the race.
This week is the start of a series of conversations with the remaining candidates for governor who will be on the primary ballot, beginning with the only woman remaining among the four who were running for governor from the two major parties just a few weeks ago, Republican candidate Mary Taylor, just days after a controversial appearance before the Ohio Republican Party’s state central committee last week.
