The City of Cleveland is close to launching a new opt-in recycling program following an 18-month hiatus, due to an expired contract with the former processor, and difficulty hiring a new recycler. The deadline to opt-in to the curbside recycling program is this Friday, and the program could begin as soon as next month.
That and other environmental issues will be at the center of this year's Sustainable Cleveland Summit, happening tomorrow and thursday this week, in a virtual format.
Mayor Frank Jackson, whose administration began the Sustainable Cleveland initiative back in 2009, will be opening the summit reflecting back on more than a decade of efforts to make Cleveland a greener, cleaner place to live.
On the "Sound of Ideas" today, we'll discuss this year's summit and dig into some of the environmental issues facing the region with the city's Chief of Sustainability, Jason Wood.
Later this hour, there aren't enough rural doctors in America. We'll hear a report about a new generation of doctors in Columbiana County learning to fill the healthcare gap.
