Rasheeda Larkin and Neil McCormick are perfect strangers with not a lot in common. She is a 35-year-old liberal black woman and he is a 67-year-old conservative white man. But the two recently sat down over webcam and talked for 40 minutes about their political beliefs to try to find common ground and help combat the division in our country. Here's an excerpt of their conversation that came out of ideastream and StoryCorps' One Small Step project.
This year, ideastream and five other NPR member stations are participanting in the StoryCorps project. This month, we'll air excerpts from some of the conversations that have happened so far. This conversation was facilitated and produced by Coordinating Producer Rachel Rood. There's still time to sign up for the project by filling out a questionnaire online.
StoryCorps' One Small Step is made possible in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
