President Trump Tests Positive for COVID-19 After Cleveland Visit; The Reporters Roundtable

Today on The Sound of Ideas Reporters Roundtable, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19 as has a top Trump aide, Hope Hicks. All of them were in Cleveland for the presidential debate earlier this week. If we employ contact tracing, how many people locally may have been affected? Multiple members of the Trump family refused to wear masks inside the debate hall, does that have ramifications for the hosts of the event, The Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University?

Speaking of the debate, it received universally bad reviews as it offered little chance to hear and compare the candidate's positions. Chaotic and combative, the 90-minute plus debate earned a description from CNN's Jake Tapper as a "hot mess, inside a dumpster fire, inside a train wreck." We’ll take a look back at how it unfolded in Cleveland. There was no violence, as protests remained peaceful around University Circle. Chris Ronayne, the President of University Circle Inc. will join us for our newsmaker interview, and give us his reaction to how the debate worked out, and if Cleveland succeeded in pulling off the event.

Also in this show, we'll look at some issues around the election, as the last day to register to vote is this upcoming Monday, and then early voting begins on Tuesday. We check in to see if some counties are having trouble recruiting election poll workers, and after all the back and forth with the Secretary of State's office, will Cuyahoga County have multiple drop boxes after all?

On the program to discuss these stories and more are ideastream reporter Jenny Hamel, who covered the protests surrounding the debate, and from Columbus, Ohio Public Radio and Television Statehouse News Bureau reporter Andy Chow.
