In the last episode, we learned about ballet dancers being treated like athletes with physical therapy. We asked you if dance should be considered a sport, and here's what you had to say!
Cheyenne, Central Intermediate School in Wadsworth: Dance is definitely a sport. Their bodies have so much pressure being put on to them. They are working hard all of the time to get good just as any sports player would.
Londyn, Ledgeview Elementary in Macedonia: Yes, dance is a sport! I have been doing dance for 5 years and I love it so much! It has become an impact in my life, I couldn't imagine life without it. It has been really fun and you learn so much like when you make a mistake, the instructor will tell you and you learn how to do it better next time. To all of you dancers, who are getting told "Dancing's not a sport!" "Dancing's dumb" just remember what what you love: DANCING!
Logan, Ross Middle School in Hamilton: No. Because dance was not meant to be a sport because it's not including any sport things. Like in baseball you have to hit the ball. In soccer you have to kick the ball. In football you have to catch the ball. In ballet, you have to do nothing of the sort and you just have to dance nothing catching or kicking or anything else like that.
Lacey, Sherwood Elementary in Cincinnati: I don't think dance is a sport. Dancers do competition but athletes play games against another team. Just because both dancing and sports can put lots of stress on your body, doesn't mean that they are the same. To me, I think dancing is more of an art if that makes sense. It may be stressful and painful but that doesn't make it a sport.
Noah, Valley Forge Elementary in Huber Heights: No, I do not think dancing is a sport. Sports usually have tournaments and things like that. And in dancing, well you just dance. There's no scoring or throwing. So I think dancing is not a sport.
