A Discussion With Richard Cordray As He Runs For Governor Of Ohio

After months of speculation about his future, democrat Richard Cordray late last month announced that he was resigning as the first chief of the new consumer finance protection bureau.

Then last week, at a suburban Columbus diner, the former Ohio Attorney General and State Treasurer declared he 'would' run for governor of Ohio in 2018.

Cordray joins a crowded field that includes Ohio Supreme Court Justice Bill O'Neill, former State Representative Connie Pillich, State Senator Joe Schiavoni, former Congresswoman Betty Sutton and Dayton mayor Nan Whaley.

Should he win next may's Democratic Primary and most pundits believe he instantly became the front runner in that race. He will face one of the three veteran officeholders vying for the GOP nomination.

Incumbent Governor John Kasich is term limited, so this is an open seat.
