Thirty years ago, Lorain County's Black River was designated an "area of concern" by the Environmental Protection Agency. The water source has been targeted for clean-up, with the help of a 15 million dollar grant from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. An important component of a healthy river is having healthy trees growing along its banks. As part of the ideastream series Healthy People, Healthy Places, Tracking The Trees, we take a trip down the Black River with a group of Lorain County kayakers who are trying to "Take Back The Black" by keeping a keen eye on what's in the river and what's on its banks.
