As we make our way toward the Memorial Day holiday this weekend, and we hopefully spend a little time thinking about how much our veterans give to this country, we at ideastream wanted to highlight something not always considered: the economic impact that veterans make. This intersection of armed forces service, economic opportunity, and activity is brought to light in a new report from Team NEO.
The report, "Untapped Opportunities," argues that as we see a talent shortage in many areas of Northeast Ohio and around the country, employers should lean into the veteran pool, and utilize them as a highly skilled workforce. The summation not only digs into the economic potential of placing a veteran into employment, but how regional resources are supporting veterans through educational opportunities, and workforce development.
To kick off the "Sound of Ideas" program today, we'll look at the report and how the veteran population can transition from military service, to civilian employment.
