Tamir Rice was 12 years old when he was fatally shot by a police officer in 2014. Four years later, his mother, Samaria Rice, is still grappling with the loss of her son.
She has decided to channel her grief into action. Later this year she plans to open the Tamir Rice Afrocentric Cultural Center in Cleveland's St. Clair neighborhood. The space will serve as a place for children and young adults to attend cultural events, art performances, and educational programs.
