Geauga Transit is taking steps to enhance mass transit connections for residents seeking employment in the county with the launch of its new program.

The public transit system is using grant money to purchase six propane buses to replace aging, gasoline fueled vehicles.

Lake and Summit county voters can take the bus for free to vote in the August 8 special election. Akron METRO RTA is waiving fares on Election Day. Laketran is offering free rides to voters on August 8 and to vote early at the board of elections.

Laketran will spend $22 million in federal and state grant money to renovate and expand its facility. The improvements are set to be complete by late fall 2024.

The agencies are providing free bus transportation to polling locations on Election Day.
