The Summit Lake community celebrated the opening of the new Ohio and Erie Canal Summit Lake Trail. The trail loops around the lake and connects to the Towpath Trail.

The renovations to the downtown park, spearheaded by Akron Civic Commons, include gardens, sitting areas, a performance pavilion and an ice skating rink.
