On-Campus Vaccine Clinics Begin April 5 At Some Ohio Colleges

Some Ohio colleges and universities will start vaccinating students the week of April 5, as many return from spring break.

The on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinics are part of Gov. Mike DeWine's plan to reach as many students as possible before they disburse across the state and country this summer.

State officials are working with universities across Ohio to supply them with the one-shot, Johnson & Johnson vaccine, but many details will be left to school officials.

Oberlin College is partnering with Harness Health Pharmacy, part of Mercy Health Hospital, to administer the vaccine to its students beginning Monday. The shot will be given out at Hale’s Gymnasium on campus.

Oberlin students can schedule appointments through an internal system, and officials say they will vaccinate all students who want the shot within four to five days.

A waitlist will be available for faculty and staff if extra doses are available, but priority will be given to students because many will leave campus in just a few weeks at the end of the spring semester.

Baldwin Wallace University students received an email that stated all students — including out-of-state and graduate students — are eligible to schedule an appointment. More details will be available on how to sign up next week according the school.

Case Western Reserve University officials said no details on a vaccine clinic there were available as of Friday, and Cleveland State University, which is currently hosting a FEMA-sponsored mass vaccination center at its Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland, did not respond to ideatream's request for comment.
