First doses of the Moderna vaccine for COVID-19 will be administered at clinics this Friday and next Tuesday at Summit County Fairgrounds.

Summit County Public Health has announced new vaccination dates at the Summit County Fairgrounds located at 1050 North Ave. in Tallmadge.

The department will be administering first doses of the Moderna vaccine to anyone age 18 or older by appointment on Friday, April 23 from 1 p.m to 6 p.m.

Second doses will be administered at the same time as the first dose on May 24 for those vaccinated April 23. There is no flexibility with this date, so SCPH recommends if someone is not able to receive the second dose at the appointed time, they should not sign up to receive their first shot at the fairgrounds.

Appointments can be made at the state's vaccination portal.

Summit County Public Health originally announced a second date for the mass vaccination clinic, which they have since cancelled. A press release stated the cancellation of Tuesday, April 27's clinic is due to “decreased demand.” Those who had appointments will be contacted to reschedule at another clinic.

Health Commissioner Donna Skoda stated in the press release that they will be shifting resources towards new initiatives that will target individuals who have not yet been vaccinated.

The cancelled vaccination clinic was originally scheduled for 1 to 6 p.m. next Tuesday. If you have any questions, you can call the COVID-19 Call Line at 330-926-5795.
