Just two days ahead of the first day of school in Euclid, the district's superintendent resigned.
Superintendent Dr. Marvin Jones submitted his resignation after a little over one year in the position, citing "personal reasons," effective Aug. 12, according to a statement from Euclid Schools. The school board accepted the resignation at their regularly scheduled meeting that same day.
Jones's wife, Kanika, also resigned from her administrative role with the schools, also effective Aug. 12.
The Board of Education statement adds that Jones did not engage in any wrongdoing.
School Board President Donna Sudar says Assistant Superintendent Chris Papouras will act as superintendent for the week. The school board plans to meet to discuss the future for the position, Sudar says.
The search for a new superintendent will be Euclid's fifth over the last five years.
