Hacker is currently working on analyzing structures and volcanism related to the growth of Miocene laccoliths in southwest Utah.

David Hacker, Ph.D. is an associate professor in the Department of Geology at Kent State University at Trumbull. His main area of focus deals with mega-landslides in volcanic events.

His book, Earth’s Natural Hazards: Understanding Natural Disasters and Catastrophes is one of the standard textbooks in the field.
