Search Ohio Entertainment Businesses Awarded SBA Dollars

The Beck Center for the Arts is one of the latest Northeast Ohio venues to receive Shuttered Venue Operating Grant funds from the U.S. Small Business Association.

The Small Business Administration continues to award federal dollars to Northeast Ohio entertainment businesses through its Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program with more recipients announced Monday.

These grants are for venues shuttered in part or completely due to the pandemic.

This week's recipients include the Cleveland Metroparks which has been designated more than $6 million. Others making the list are the Grog Shop (KSM Tavern Inc) in Cleveland Heights for more than $500,000 and Talespinner Children's Theatre in Detroit Shoreway district of Cleveland for about $11,000.

Playhouse Square Foundation made the list last month and will receive $8 million. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is set to receive more than $7 million.

Other major arts groups from Northeast Ohio getting grant approval are the Musicial Arts Association, which operates the Cleveland Orchestra, which is set to receive nearly $6 million, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, which will get close to $9 million.

Also on the list to receive grants are the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, the Beachland Ballroom, Great Lakes Theater, Cleveland Play House, DanceCleveland and Karamu House.

Note, awards are given to the operators of venues and businesses, which in many cases may differ from the location name. For instance, 58 Group, Inc. is the Happy Dog and KS KLUB LLC is the B Side Lounge.
