The Canton Symphony Orchestra announced Thursday the postponement of all January performances citing the rise in COVID-19 cases and spread of the omicron variant.
“A Planets Odyssey,” originally planned for Jan. 22, is now scheduled for May 22, and “Hey Monea Meets the Symphony,” originally planned for Jan. 13, is set for June 9. New dates for other performances will be announced in the future.
Tickets will be good for the new dates or may be exchanged for other concerts, according to a news release.

The Cleveland Orchestra is planning to go forward with a series of performances next week at Severance Music Center, with some enhanced COVID-19 protocols. As of January 3, audience members will have to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster dose, upon entering the building. Attendees who are not yet fully vaccinated and boosted, will have to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
These enhanced policies are in addition to to the orchestra’s current requirement for masks to be worn by attendees for an entire concert. The first performances to be affected by these policy updates will be concerts featuring pianist Igor Levit on January 6 – 8.
