Plans to offer the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine at the Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland are back on, starting next week.
The site was initially supposed to offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the end of April, but had to switch to Pfizer shots after J&J was temporarily paused due to rare blood clot concerns.
The mass vaccination clinic will offer the single-dose vaccine to anyone over the age of 18 starting Tuesday, May 11, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
The clinic is still taking walk-ins from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., but people can also sign up for an appointment using the state's online scheduling system or by calling 833-427-5634.
The Food and Drug Administration and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lifted the pause after determining the risk of blood clots was low.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be offered daily at the Wolstein through Monday, May 17. After that, the clinic will administer second doses of the Pfizer vaccine to those who received the first doses at the end of April and early May.
Free parking is available in the Cleveland State parking garages surrounding the Wolstein Center.
The vaccination site, which is Ohio's first and largest mass COVID-19 vaccine clinic, opened March 17. For the first six weeks of operation, the clinic gave out 237,000 first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine, according to state health officials.
The site may extend past May 31 if there is interest, officials added.
