The Wolstein Center mass vaccination clinic will administer first doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine next week and will take walk-ins, vaccination site officials said Friday.
The clinic was supposed to transition to Johnson & Johnson vaccines next week, but changed course after distribution of the J&J vaccines was paused due to blood clot concerns.
Appointments are available starting Tuesday, April 27 through May 3, according to vaccination site spokesperson Capt. Matt Eck of the Ohio National Guard. Second doses will be administered the week of May 18, Eck said.
For the first time since the site opened in mid-March, the clinic will also take walk-ins, but appointments are preferred for “more efficient check-in,” Eck said.
Walk-ins are accepted from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, he added.
Anyone 16 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine at the site. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, he said.
To register for an appointment, individuals can sign up via the Ohio Department of Health’s online scheduling tool, or call 1-833-427-5634.
Parking, which is free, is available in the Cleveland State parking garages surrounding the Wolstein Center.
Individuals are encouraged to call 211 if they need transportation or registration assistance, Eck said.
The vaccination site, which is Ohio's first and largest mass COVID-19 vaccine clinic, opened March 17 and had been administering 6,000 vaccines per day. For the first six weeks, the clinic gave out first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
