Good morning, iOpeners. It's Monday, April 15, 2019. It's Tax Day. Did you get your taxes done ong before the deadline, or are you cutting it close? With the changes in tax law, do you feel as if you are paying more or less? Are you singing along with the Beatles, "Should five percent appear too small, be thankful I don't take it all."

Meteorologists from the National Weather Service will survey the Richland County city of Shelby to determine the strength of a tornado that swept through the community Sunday.  The Richland County Emergency Management Agency reported about a half-dozen homes were damaged and at least six people were taken to a hospital to be treated for storm-related injuries.

About 1,500 customers are still without power this morning in Portage County and 429 in Summit County, two counties that experienced thousands of outages during the storms.  Yesterday afternoon, FirstEnergy’s outage map was showing as many as 9,000 customers without power in those counties.

Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont told union workers at a town hall meeting near Youngstown that, if elected president, he’d freeze government contracts to General Motors for shuttering the Lordstown plant and outsourcing jobs to Mexico.  Sanders spoke at a packed auditorium at Lordstown High School in Warren.

The Columbus Blue Jackets bested the Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-1, before a jubilant home crowd and are now a game away from capturing their opening-round Stanley Cup playoff series. The win gives CBJ its first-ever 3-0 playoff series lead.  Matt Duchene, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Cam Atkinson scored for the Jackets.  Game 4 is Tuesday.

The Kansas City Royals edged the Cleveland Indians, 9-8, and swept the Tribe in their three-game weekend series.  For the second time this season, Indians ace Corey Kluber lasted fewer than four innings.  He allowed six runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings.  Pinch-runner Terrance Gore stole a base and then scored on Hunter Dozier’s single in the ninth inning to give the Royals the W.

Weather forecast: Cloudy, breezy, with a chance of scattered rain and snow showers before 10 am.  Gradually becoming sunny.  Breezy, with a west wind gusting as high as 34 mph.  High 45.  Tonight, partly cloudy, low 37.  Warmer weather this week, with the temperature reaching 78 on Thursday.
