Steve Loomis, the president of Cleveland's rank-and-file police union, faces a challenge from his predecessor, Jeff Follmer, in a leadership vote that concludes Monday night.
Members of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association have until 11:59 p.m. Monday to cast their votes. According to a notice on the CPPA website, members have been able to vote by phone in a secret ballot since early November.
Loomis first won the job in 2005. But he lost his seat six years later to Follmer. Loomis took the presidency back in 2014, and now Follmer is challenging him again.
The CPPA president begins his term at the start of January.
