  1. Princeton, N.J. police said a resident contacted authorities when he spotted what appeared to be a an escaped pet parrot perched on the tree in a wooded area. The bird turned out to be a “decorative ceramic parrot”;
  2. A newborn white rhino at the Cotswold Wildlife Park in Burford, England, has been named “Queenie” in honor of the Platinum Jubilee of  Queen Elizabeth II;
  3. Vaguito, a dog who spends his days on a beach in Punta Negra, Peru, waiting for his fisherman owner to return from his last fishing trip. Vaguito is now being cared for by a woman in the village, but he returns to the beach every day;
  4. Jessica, a 1-year-old corgi, fell overboard from a yacht on the Indian River in Florida and swam 7 miles to shore and turned up in a resident’s yard. The homeowner who found Jessica declined a $500 reward;
  5. In Maine, a flock of escaped chickens ended up riding shotgun through a donut shop drive-thru in an animal control officer’s vehicle after a comedy of errors in which there were too few dog kennels for the numbers of chickens, the sliding window between the back and front seats was open and chickens landed in the front seat; and the officer’s capture net was out of commission because it had been chewed by a rat.
