The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is reopening its doors to the public this weekend after a prolonged shutdown over the holidays due to pandemic concerns.
Like many Northeast Ohio cultural attractions, the Rock Hall closed in November, after a statewide spike in coronavirus cases. CEO Greg Harris said some extra safety improvements were made in the interim.
“We've eliminated things like revolving doors, we've put in automated doors. We have touch free digital ticketing,” he said.
These changes come in addition to other safety protocols implemented since last spring. Over the past year, the pandemic prompted the Rock Hall to ramp up its online offerings, as well, including some rare archival footage from its vaults. Harris said that will all still be available, but now it will once again be possible to drop by in-person.
“We're really excited to be able to host people again in a safe, careful environment,” Harris said.
Healthcare providers will be the first through their new automatic doorways with free admission Sunday. The Rock Hall reopens to the general public Monday, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Harris added that all visitors will need to register for tickets in advance and ticket capacity will be limited.
