President Obama on the GOP budget proposal - Calls it a broken record of trickle-down economics:
"It's a budget that doesn't just fail to embrace middle class economics, it’s the opposite of that. It doubles-down on trickle-down. I don't expect you, by the way, to read the budget, theirs or mine, but you can do some fact-checking on this. Their budget doles out even more to those who already have the most, makes massive cuts to investments that benefit all of us and asks middle class taxpayers to foot the bill."
And:
“If you’ve heard these kinds of arguments about this kind of budget before, that’s because you’ve seen this kind of budget before. Republicans in congress put forth the same proposals year after year regardless of the condition of the economy. When its in a slump, 'we need some tax cuts.' When its doing well, 'you know what, we need some tax cuts'."
As for his own performance, the President said, “The USA is coming back.”
“Today there are more job openings than at any time since 2001. The auto industry which we rescued despite the fact that it was not popular at the time, is firing on all cylinders. That's making a difference right here in Ohio. Factories are opening doors at the fastest pace in nearly two decades; over the past 5 years manufacturing has added jobs at a rate not seen since the 1980s.”
