The Corps had threatened to halt its regular dredging of Cleveland Harbor and the Cuyahoga River if the EPA didn’t okay the lake-dump plan. Dredging is crucial to keeping the waterway open for shipping.

The Corps hasn’t yet hinted at whether it will make good on its threat. Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown and Congressman Dave Joyce sent a letter to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, urging her to help find a solution so dredging can continue on schedule.
